Logically Facts bolsters team of mis-and-disinformation experts with new leaders hired in India and the UK

With sights firmly set on further expansion and capability, Logically Facts reaffirms commitment to the global fact-checking and trust and safety communities with two strategic hires.

Logically Facts, the recently launched, independent fact-checking unit from Logically – the tech organization powered by experts which is combating mis-and disinformation – has today announced two new regional fact-checking leads in two critical markets as part of its global expansion plans.

Kritika, Ex Deputy Editor Fact-Check at The Quint joins as Head of Fact-Checking India for Logically Facts and Lorena Martínez, ex-Twitter global misinformation programme manager, joins as Head of Fact-Checking UK and EU. They will be responsible for team and language expansion, executing fact-checking at speed and scale, ensuring editorial value, and overseeing on service delivery for existing clients such as TikTok and Meta.

With a track record for ensuring global audiences have access to credible and authoritative information, Lorena joins Logically after six years at Twitter and a decade in the news media and editorial space. In her previous role, Lorena led cross-functional projects to counter misinformation online and also helped drive Twitter’s global Misinformation Partnerships Program with fact-checking organizations to expand efforts to identify and elevate credible information in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Before joining Twitter, Lorena was a journalist reporting on and covering breaking news and major events in the UK.

Having lead a team of Hindi and English fact-checkers as Deputy Editor, Fact-Check at The Quint, Kritika helped put The Quint’s WebQoof on the global fact-checking map and earned her team recognition for several projects focusing on promoting media and digital literacy for women and young adults in India. She has also helped her team scale the fight against misinformation as an active member of collaborations like the Ekta News Coalition and the Misinformation Combat Alliance in India, with a key belief of hers being that each individual can be empowered to be a part of the fight against misinformation.

Harnessing AI, Logically Facts augments its fact-checkers' expertise, while helping them to intervene efficiently and at scale. The Logically Facts team is based in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Greece, and India, publishing fact-checks in English, Swedish, Kannada, Telugu, and Assamese. With the industry lacking capacity and high-quality fact-checks addressing non-English speaking regions, the company aims to grow its team and add eight languages later this year, including Mandarin, Russian and Spanish, so the addition of Lorena and Kritika to the team are a step on this growth journey.

Baybars Orsek, Managing Director at Logically Facts comments: “The issue of misinformation online is ever-growing, making the need for trustworthy, scalable and timely fact-checking more important than ever. Therefore the addition of two highly experienced misinformation subject matter experts to our Logically Facts team is such a pleasure to announce and is indicative of the growth journey of our team over the remainder of the year and beyond.”

Jaskirat Singh Bawa, Global Head of Fact-Checking at Logically Facts adds: “We are thrilled to welcome Lorena and Kritika to the team. With their leadership and expertise, we are confident that our initiative will continue to make significant strides in the fight against online misinformation and disinformation. Lorena and Kritika join us at an exciting time as we look to expand our capability and coverage and play a more significant role in the global fact-checking and trust and safety communities.”
