False: Italian doctors claim that COVID-19 can be cured by administering Aspirin.

The Italian Medicines Agency has not mentioned Aspirin as a drug being used to treat patients with COVID-19. A viral post claims that Italian doctors have said that, COVID-19 the disease caused by the coronavirus, can be cured by administering Aspirin. Although there is one study available, which studies the effect of Aspirin on COVID-19 patients, it was not conducted in Italy. Moreover, the Italian Medical Agency has not listed Aspirin as a potential cure for the coronavirus, and no clinical trials are being conducted using Aspirin. The World Health Organisation also states that the virus that causes COVID-19, comes from a family of viruses called Coronaviruses, and antibiotics like aspirin do not work against viruses. There are currently no medicines or vaccines available which can cure COVID-19. There are several ongoing clinical trials in many countries across the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
