Chinese troops have erected structures at the Galwan site on their side of Line of Control, but no intrusion has been reported.Tensions escalated between China and India over the border, where China increased its troops' presence into Line of Actual Control and expanded a military airbase in the region. Thousands of Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) forces had moved into sensitive areas along the Eastern Ladakh border, setting up tents, stationing vehicles and heavy machinery in the Galwan valley area. The Chinese military has been building up in the Line of Actual Control since the first week of May 2020. During the media briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs clarified on June 20, 2020, that the Chinese side departed from these understandings in respect of the LAC in the Galwan Valley area and sought to erect structures just across the LAC where neither countries were allowed to do so. Further, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on June 20, 2020, had confirmed that there were no incursions from the enemy forces into Indian territory and that not even an inch of Indian land was lost to anyone.
