The Italian government has notified about its alliance with Germany, France, and the Netherlands to develop a successful vaccine. It has also announced that when the production of an effective vaccine will start, the state would pay for its free distribution. The World Health Organization has published a list of several candidate vaccines from a variety of universities around the world. China has developed an inactivated vaccine candidate which is said to provide efficient protection against the disease in rhesus monkeys with just two doses. There are currently more than one hundred vaccines in preclinical development by pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, government agencies, and others around the world. Eight vaccine candidates, across four countries, are already undergoing clinical trials. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
