The Indian government has denied that India is in the community transmission or 3rd stage of Covid-19. The International Health Organisation has placed India in stage 3 or community transmission of Covid-19, despite the total number of positive cases reported on July 20, 2020, stands at 1,119,412, and the total number of deaths is 27,514. On July 9, Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsha Vardhan, said there is no community transmission of the coronavirus in India. He added that in a few parts of the country, there could be a high number of locally spreading cases, but as a whole, it has not reached the 3rd stage of transmission. He further said that only 32 districts contributed 80% of the total deaths in the country, and 86% of the total deaths are concentrated in six states. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
