Data published by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows that Maharashtra has received over 93 lakh doses of vaccines.The COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly severe in Maharashtra. As per the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, about 67,500 people tested positive on a single day on April 22. Rajesh Tope, the Health Minister of Maharashtra, accused the central government of supplying fewer vaccines, focusing more on providing vaccines to Bharatiya Janata Party-led states. According to the health minister, Maharashtra only received 7.5 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines. While Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, and other states received significantly more vaccines. In a press release issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on April 8, 2021, the Maharashtra government stated that it administered 89,49,660 COVID-19 vaccines since the start of the vaccine drive on January 16, 2021. As per the data included in the press release, Maharashtra received the most vaccine doses (9.92 percent), followed by Rajasthan, which administered 82,87840 doses (9.19 percent). Gujarat received the third-highest number of vaccines. The Cumulative Coverage Report of COVID-19 Vaccination provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed that Maharashtra received over 93 lakh vaccinations as of April 9, 2021, the highest among states in terms of vaccine doses.
