Face masks with other preventive measures, such as frequent hand-washing and social distancing, help slow the coronavirus spread. The issue of wearing face coverings in public has become a contentious topic, with some advocating that masks are useless, if not dangerous. However, the scientific community has been vociferous on wearing a mask, especially in public. The CDC has recommended wearing masks as a simple barrier and preventing people from spreading the virus to others. Physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into tissue will stop the coronavirus spread. Respirator masks such as FFP2, FFP3, N95, and N99 should be used for protection instead of a surgical mask because it can filter out both large and small particles when worn. Thus, face coverings can significantly help reduce the risk of transmission.
