Rahul Gandhi is an Indian citizen and the court has dismissed the case which questioned his citizenship.The official government website mentions that Rahul Gandhi was born to Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on June 19, 1970, in Delhi. Subramanian Swamy who is the Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha has raised questions about Gandhi's alleged British citizenship. Since 2015, Swamy has claimed that Gandhi is a British citizen. A notice was also issued by the Home Ministry in 2019 asking him to clarify his "factual position". Meanwhile, a plea was filed by two Delhi residents in the Supreme court in connection with his citizenship. The court dismissed the request saying that citizenship cannot be questioned based on a paper note. Earlier too the court had rejected a similar petition in the year 2015.
