Boris Johnson was present in the Downing Street on the day he is said to have travelled to Italy.The Italian media reported that prime minister Boris Johnson landed in Perugia on 11 September and left on 14 September, picked up by the press in the UK, and the news became a frenzy. The story emerged after the airport issued a statement boasting about the arrivals of celebrity guests, including Johnson and former prime minister Tony Blair in recent days. Downing Street issued a firm rebuttal of the report saying that Johnson had held a meeting with Conservative MPs via Zoom on 11 September, and his son's son's baptism service was held the next day. Further, the backbencher Andrea Jenkyns gave a screengrab of Johnson on a Zoom call, which corroborated with the statement of the spokesman who said the story is untrue. The PM had not traveled to Italy in recent months. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Westminster Cathedral confirmed that baby Wilfred was baptized into the Catholic church in a private service on 12 September by Father Daniel Humphreys. The airport too chipped in and clarified that it was not Boris Johnson but instead, it was a private citizen traveling.
