On the second night of the Republican National Convention, Melania Trump claimed that President Donald Trump was the first president to speak about the importance of religious freedom at the UN General Assembly. However, that is not true. Other presidents have addressed the United Nations on the topic of religious freedom, including President Barack Obama. He defended religious freedom at the UNGA on September 25, 2012.
