It stated that the peer-reviewed medical journal had said 89 percent of new COVID-19 cases occur among fully vaccinated people in the U.K. On November 19, 2021, The Lancet released a report titled "The epidemiological relevance of the COVID-19-vaccinated population is increasing." The study refers to the increasing COVID-19 cases in Germany and Israel to provide a comparative outlook to show how infections also increased in the U.K. every day. It demonstrated that in the UK., the COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 was higher in the vaccinated subgroup than in the unvaccinated subgroup in all age groups of 30 years or more. Based on the U.K. Health Security Agency's COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report, The Lancet article states that between September and October 2021 (week 39 to week 42), a total of 100,160 COVID-19 cases were reported among people aged 60 and older. Among those cases, 89,821 were fully vaccinated (89.7 percent), and 3,395 were unvaccinated. The study concluded that many policymakers believe the government should not ignore vaccinated people because they could spread the coronavirus as well.
