Virat Kohli has pledged his support for PM cares fund, but the contribution amount is not disclosed.PM CARES fund is a charitable trust established to deal with any kind of emergency or distress situation. Given the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, many celebrities have announced their contribution to the PM CARES fund to address the shortage of oxygen cylinders, medicines, and other relief work. Some media reports claimed that Virat Kohli donated 21 crores towards the PM CARES fund, and soon the news became viral on social media. Virat Kohli had tweeted on March 30, 2021, that he was contributing to the PM CARES fund. Furthermore, Anushka Sharma, in her Instagram post, announced that she and her husband Virat have done their bit to fight against the coronavirus but did not provide further details. However, the PM CARES does not disclose the name of the donors and the payments made by individuals or organizations. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) declined to provide the list of donors and payments when requested under the Right to Information Law by the Associated Press back in 2020. Due to a lack of transparency in accessing the fund details, we mark the claim as partly true as Virat Kohli has not publicly disclosed the amount he donated to the PM CARES fund. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
