An exclusive interview video by NDTV on youtube and a press release by IRSO confirms the claim.Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Chief K Sivan spoke to NDTV about India's first-ever manned mission to space, scheduled to take place by mid-2022. He said the design phase of Gaganyaan is over and has selected four astronauts (IAF) for the mission. The astronauts have already undergone medical tests and will undergo astronaut training from the third week of January in Russia and India. Initially, twelve astronauts were selected, but based on medical reports, only four astronauts made to the final list.
According to another press release by the ISRO, a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Indian Air Force (IAF) and ISRO in May 2019 for cooperation in crew selection and training for Gaganyaan project.
