The highest mortality rate was in Bengaluru and Mysore, with seven doctors each. Out of the forty-three doctors who died, twenty-one were aged 60-69, five were above 70 years, fourteen doctors were in the 40-59 age group, and three were between 27-37 years old. Nearly 80 percent of the doctors worked in private hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics. The doctors were general practitioners, physicians, psychiatrists, ENT specialists, gynecologists, radiologists, and anesthetists. On September 22, a 66-year doctor, a resident of Nanjangud in Mysore, Dr. Venkatesh, succumbed to COVID-19. The total number of doctors who died of the pandemic in Karnataka reached forty-three.
