A review report by the Government of Wales reported that 31 deaths were identified in west Wales which were not included in PHW statistics.Public Health Wales(PHW) on 28 April 2020 identified that Hywel Dda health board had not reported 31 deaths due to coronavirus which should have been in scope. A Welsh Government report, commissioned after the issues with Betsi Cadwaladr health board came to light, found the protocol for reporting Covid-19 deaths had not been 'embedded consistently' across the Hywel Dda health board area. As a result of not using a single reporting system, PHW has encountered delays and confusion on death reporting. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
