The document released by the Legislative Department and press release by Press Information Bureau confirm the claim.According to the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005 a daughter would be a coparcener since birth, and have the same rights and liabilities as a son. She would have an equal right in property share in a Joint Hindu family despite her marital status. The rights are applicable in all property disputes filed before 2005 and to daughters who were born before the Hindu Succession Act, 1956 (“HSA”) came into force.
