The three chains have decided to reopen a few restaurants across the UK to help NHS staff and other key workers, and provide food to the homeless.Three UK takeaway chains, Burger King, KFC, and Pret-A-Manger have launched limited re-openings, with staff wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing physical distancing. Burger King and KFC have reopened for delivery only, while Pret-A-Manger is doing both deliveries and takeaways. Although government guidelines state that restaurants and pubs have to close, they can prepare food for collection or delivery. The main reason for the three chains behind reopening a few restaurants was to help NHS staff and other key workers. Burger King is currently operating at four sites from Bristol, Swindon, and Coventry as part of a phased reopening of more restaurants in the coming weeks. They would give away 1,000 meals a week to the NHS staff. Pret a Manger was opening 10 shops in London near hospitals. They will provide a 50% discount on meals for NHS workers until the end of April and meals will be donated to homeless people.
