A study suggests that delirium and confusion may be common among seriously ill hospital patients with Covid-19. A study published in the Lancet called 'Psychiatric and neuropsychiatric presentations associated with severe coronavirus infections: a systematic review and meta-analysis with comparison to the COVID-19 pandemic' suggests that Covid-19 patients who have long stays in intensive care and receive ventilation treatment are at greater risk of developing delirium. The research is based on studies of patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) and Middle-East respiratory syndrome (Mers), as well early data on Covid-19 patients. Moreover, researchers revealed that those with mild symptoms are unlikely to be affected by mental health conditions. Although, more studies are needed to analyse the impact Covid-19 is having on the mental health of patients infected with the disease. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
