An 83-year-old man died after contracting the COVID-19 infection at a private hospital in Mysuru on June 23, 2020.The man hailed from Bengaluru, and his daughter was staying in an apartment in Mysuru. When he became unwell, his daughter brought him to Mysuru and took him to a private hospital doctor on June 15. District Administration authorities said the deceased was undergoing treatment for respiratory complications. District Health Officer Dr. Venkatesh said that due to further complications, on June 22, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru, where he died on June 24. The results for his COVID-19 test, conducted as per the mandate, came back positive. This was the first death due to COVID-19 reported in Mysuru since the outbreak. Mysuru has reported 222 confirmed COVID-19 cases and one death along with 112 discharged as of June 26, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
