According to an article by the Indian Express, Ludhiana Police has launched a free ride scheme for women from 1 December 2019. Women can call police helpline numbers 1091 and 7837018555 and request for vehicles during night time between 10 P.M-6 A.M. The nearby PCR vehicle or SHO vehicle will come and drop them safely to their destination, and it is free of cost. A tweet by the Government of Punjab on 3 December 2019 states that Punjab Cheif Minister announced free police helpline numbers 100, 112, or 181 to help women who are stranded outside in the night between 9 P.M to 6 A.M. The call will directly connect to the nearby or dedicated PCR vehicle. Nagpur Police launched the "HOME-DROP" facility for women, where women can call on helpline numbers 100 or 1091 or 07122561103 in the night between 9 P.M - 5 A.M. Nagpur police will safely escort them to their destination, and it is free of cost.
