Russia has placed a request to hold larger Phase 3 trials of Sputnik vaccine in India. The results of phase 1 and 2 trials of the COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V have been published in The Lancet, and Russia has planned to conduct Phase 3 clinical trials in many countries, including India. It was confirmed by the Indian government official who said that the Russian government had approached the Indian government for help on two counts. Firstly to consider the manufacturing of its Sputnik V vaccine through the vast network of India's pharma companies and for conducting the phase 3 trials of its vaccine in India. He further said the research Institute had submitted comprehensive data on the vaccine's safety and efficacy to Indian authorities to facilitate the regulatory clearances. However, a final decision is yet to be made by the Indian authorities as there are a lot of conditions and safety standards to be reviewed in order to approve the vaccination trials.
