Institute of Experimental Medicine is conducting preclinical studies on the world's first yogurt-based COVID-19 vaccine with Ryazhenka flavor.Research is being conducted by scientists from the Institute of Experimental Medicine at St. Petersburg on the world's first edible COVID-19 vaccine, which tastes like fermented baked milk. Unlike other vaccines, this is taken orally. The institute has similar vaccines against influenza, pneumococcus, and streptococcus. Alexander Suvorov, the head of the department of molecular microbiology of the institute, said that a fragment of the synthesized genome of the COVID-19 is injected into the bacterium's genome while creating the vaccine. Due to the genetic modification, the bacterium produces the COVID-19 protein, which develops an immune response. Lab animals such as mice and rats displayed an extreme immune response with no side effects. Suvorov noted that vaccine development continues to be studied in laboratory animals and is waiting for the chance of investigating protection.
