IIBR has completed research and has filed a patent for eight antibodies which will be used to create a possible cure for Covid-19.The scientists of the Israel Institute for Biological Research revealed that they have completed the development phase and have determined a series of antibodies that could fight against COVID-19. On May 7, 2020, Israel President Reuven Rivlin stated that the process is complex and is a significant scientific breakthrough of IIBR scientists. Further, on May 15, 2020, IIBR in Ness Ziona announced that it had completed the patent filing for eight antibodies which will be used to create a possible cure for the virus. Director of the Biological Institute in Ness Ziona, Professor Shmuel Shapira, told defense Minister Naftali Bennett that they would be contacting international firms to produce the antibody in commercial quantities. The institute has also stated that although this has the potential for the development of a drug for coronavirus patients but it is not a vaccine for the entire population. According to the scientists of the institute, the technological breakthrough may shorten the process, which will take several months and it should provide a solution even in the event that the virus is mutated. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
