8.58 lakh students registered for JEE (Main), and became the first-large scale exam conducted in India during the COVID-19 pandemic.The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced that JEE (Main), which was earlier scheduled to be held in July 2020, was postponed to be held on September 1 - September 6, 2020. The announcement of NTA came after the Supreme Court gave its verdict stating that there is no justification for postponement of the examination. This was the first exam where a large number of students gathered after six months of lockdown imposed by the central government. The Education Ministry also said that for JEE (Main), 7.41 lakh candidates out of 8.58 lakh have downloaded the admit cards. Only 332 candidates have requested for change of their center cities. The computer-based JEE (Main) tests commenced from September 1, 2020, with attendance for Paper 2 for BArch/B Planning admission was 54.7%. For Paper 1 for BTech/BE admissions has been 81.6%, according to the National Test Agency. A 15.97 lakh candidates have registered for NEET (UG) 2020, and the exam was held on September 13, 2020.
