Chief Minister Yogi Aditayanath said there were no shortages of oxygen in state hospitals, but some areas have been impacted. India is battling the second wave of COVID-19 as hospitals report a shortage of oxygen supplies, beds, and medicines. Uttar Pradesh has been severely affected due to a spike in the number of cases, and some hospitals have complained of oxygen shortages due to logistical delays. Yogi Adityanath, UP's Chief Minister, rejected the statements by saying that there was no shortage of oxygen in any state hospitals, and the problem has arisen due to black marketing and hoarding. However, his own party members have written to him and said that both government and private hospitals are staring at an acute shortage of medical oxygen. They have complained about inadequate arrangements in the city of Meerut and Lucknow as patients from neighboring districts come there for COVID-19 treatment. Lokendra Pratap Singh, BJP MLA, stated in a letter that the crippling oxygen shortage had claimed many lives in his Assembly constituency. He mentioned that the district administration is hamstrung because of oxygen shortage, and many prominent people have lost their lives solely because of lack of critical medical supplies, especially oxygen. The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation.
