Vidya Rani was formally inducted into Bharatiya Janata Party by the Party Secretary, Muralidhar Rao. At an event held in Krishnagiri on February 22, 2020, Vidya Rani, daughter of Veerappan, joined the BJP. The party general secretary, Muralidhar Rao, and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan were present at the event. The event also saw 1,000 people from other political parties join the BJP.
